NICKEY STAMEY

Program Director & Administrator

Nickey is the Mitchell-Yancey Healthy Families Program Director at the Blue Ridge Partnership for Children. She has served in that role since 2012, when MYHF began implementation in Mitchell and Yancey Counties. Nickey has served in a variety of leadership roles in the community including serving as the Executive Director of the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Toe River. When Nickey is not managing the program she is at home juggling a vivacious little boy with special medical needs, three cats, a dog and husband…not always in that order! Nickey enjoys travel, all things cats and worshipping with her family at their church in Asheville.

AUTUMN SNYDER

Family Assessment Worker

Autumn Snyder is originally from the Tri-County area. Autumn Graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a double major in Human Services and Religion. Autumn has been a Family Support Worker/Family Assessment Worker with Mitchell Yancey Healthy Families since December, 2015. Autumn enjoys spending time with friends and family and being outdoors. She loves kayaking and hiking with her animals.

KATIE BENNETT

Data and Program Support Specialist

Katie joined the Healthy Families team the Summer of 2017 as the Data and Program Support Specialist. She grew up in Mitchell County, but now calls Burnsville her home. She is married with three children whom she adores. Katie has a background in childcare as both a teacher and a center director, and for the past eight years has provided child care from her home. Katie enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, music, crafts, and especially loves her special group of “girls”. Katie looks forward to being part of the MYHF team.

REBEKKAH COOK

Family Support Worker

Rebekkah Cook has been with Healthy Families since April 8, 2013, as a Family Support Worker and since December 2015 the lead Family Assessment Worker.  When Rebekkah is not at work, Rebekkah enjoys spending time and traveling with her husband, daughter, and son.  Rebekkah also enjoys being creative in many forms and gardening.

SONYA LIBOW

Family Support Worker

Sonya is from the Blue Ridge and continues to enjoy residing in the beauty and serenity of the mountains. Before her career in human services Sonya studied photography which stemmed from her interest in fine arts. During involvement in a photographic project called Campaigns for Kids she became interested in pursuing a degree in Human Services and proceeded to study at Gardner-Webb University. Sonya has two terrific daughters and an endearing cat. In her free time she enjoys being surrounded by nature, reading, and attending plays. Grateful for her involvement in such an invaluable program, Sonya continually strives to seek personal growth in order to better serve and enrich the lives of others.

After working with children and families through a variety of settings for over a decade, Jeff is thrilled to be working with the Mitchell-Yancey Healthy Fatherhood Program as a part of the MY Healthy Families team. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from UNC-Greensboro and a Master of Divinity degree in counseling from Gardner-Webb University.  He is passionate about work which helps young people have a safe and caring environment where they can grow and reach for a bright future ahead.

By the time a family graduates from the MYHF they will have at least 120 instructional hours of parenting education. That is equivalent to an associates degree in parenting! Not everyone can say that!
